Information:
The space shuttle Columbia's de-orbit burn was at 8:15 a.m. EST (1315 GMT) on 02/01/03, for a planned
landing on KSC Runway 33. Communication was lost with Columbia at 9:00 a.m.
EST while Columbia was at approximately 200,000 feet (40 miles) over Central Texas. Debris was found scattered throughout East Texas.
The vehicle was traveling at 12,500 mph at the time of the disaster.
